About CARFAC Ontario
CARFAC Ontario is the association of professional visual and media artists. Founded in 1968, CARFAC (Canadian Artists' Representation/le Front des artistes canadiens) has worked for 40 years on the legal and economic issues facing visual artists. We believe that artists, like professionals in other fields, should be paid for their work and share equitably in profits from their art practice. The work of CARFAC Ontario is to develop policies, publications and services that assist artists, galleries, curators, art patrons, and other stakeholders in creating an economic climate that benefits all visual artists.

History and MilestonesCARFAC Ontario's History:It was forty years ago in London that Jack Chambers, Tony Urquhart, Kim Ondaatje, Greg Curnoe and Ron Martin came together to form the first CAR Executive, and a piece of Canadian history was born. Our Funders and SupportersCARFAC Ontario is supported by the Ontario Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Ministry of Culture, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and by our members.
Canadian Arts Resources Foundation for Ontario (CARFO)The Artist Relief Fund is a fund administered by the Canadian Arts Resources Foundation for Ontario (CARFO). The Fund provides Ontario visual artists with assistance for the relief of poverty, and provides short-term financial aid for rent, mortgage payments, utility bills, food, dental and medical care, and prescription medicines. Application process: Organizational UmbrellaCARFAC Ontario is one of six regional affiliates that fall under the umbrella of CARFAC, along with CARFAC British Columbia, CARFAC Saskatchewan, CARFAC Manitoba, Visual Arts Newfoundland and Labrador (VANL), and CARFAC Maritimes. |
